Children with Milk Allergy May be Able to Safely Drink Milk

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Researchers at Johns Hopkins Children’s conducted a study on 18 children with severe milk allergy and concluded that they are capable of consuming milk and dairy products after being exposed to the allergen. The study begun in 2008 and lasted 17 months. A group of children that had severe milk allergy were exposed to the allergen and continued the exposure till the immune system was able to accept it. Another proof that exposure to the allergen builds tolerance! Don’t run home now and attempt this with your allergic child. Keep in mind that this experiment was conducted under specialist’s supervision and exposure was scheduled and carefully administered. This is exactly how I built Dylan’s tolerance to most of his allergens (except shell fish and dogs), by exposing him to small amounts of the allergen till he was able to tolerate bigger amounts. The most important part of the treatment is to continue the exposure to the allergen, that way tolerance is maintained.

Seasonal Allergies and Natural Treatment

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Just stumbled upon this amazing article written by Heather Schulte, an Alternative Medicine Examiner, about the natural treatments for seasonal allergies. She highlighted the same point I made on my previous article of the importance of utilizing raw unfiltered honey along with nettle tea and probiotics. This combination is highly effective and helps getting through the toughest allergy season.

“Bees produce honey by using pollen. Local raw honey will provide very small doses of this pollen stimulating your bodies tolerance of the pollen. Raw honey from local sources is most effective because it doesn’t have heat applied to it and it is made from the pollen prevalent in your area. Raw honey should not be consumed by children under the age of 5.

Options for Curing Allergies

Monday, April 27th, 2009

One has many options to choose from when treating allergies. It’s so hard to decide because they all sound promising. In this post I’m going to clarify the most common solutions and which ones did not work for me. Because after all the “mambo shmambo” treatments that I tried, I’ve discovered only one way out of this madness and that is (drumroll please)…the secret of all secrets revealed in 5…4…3…2…1……..NUTRITION! I hope you weren’t expecting a shaman, who sucks out the magic “evil” darts out that were causing the allergy… ha ha ha.  Ok back to reality, nutrition is key to this vicious cycle. Below I listed three common options for treating allergies:
