Allergic Reaction to Caesar Dressing

Friday, August 7th, 2009

A beautiful day at the beach turned into my worst nightmare. Just when I thought that I had Dylan’s allergy under control the entire world came down this past Sunday. Almost every weekend I take Dylan to  South Beach (South Pointe Park) – a family oriented part in South Beach. It has been a fun place to go especially by the park since it’s recently built and has an area with sprinkles for the kids. It was the most beautiful morning, with clear blue skies and a few waves to catch. Dylan was playing on the shore with my dad for over an hour, while I snuck out to catch some waves on my boogie board. Later I joined my parents and Dylan for some sand digging madness.

Colic Babies and Food Allergies

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

How can you tell if your diet is harming your baby? Is your baby just fussing around or is something truly bothering her? I lost count of all the sleepless nights I had when my son was younger. I wasn’t able to determine what was bothering him and allergies were the last thing on my mind. I thought it was normal for babies to fuss around and have a rash here and there. A friend of mine suggested that I switch my diet. I was breast feeding at the time and didn’t think that my diet would affect my son. To my surprise it did. All of the dairy products I was consuming were harming him. He was congested, restless and sometimes had diarrhea. By adjusting to an almost vegan diet I saw a tremendous change. Although it is normal for most babies to fuss around and wake up in the middle of the night. What you can do is pay close attention to your baby after she is breast fed.

The Dangers of Consuming Non-Organic Food

Monday, May 4th, 2009

You are what you eat! Engrave that in your mind or tattoo it to your forehead. I’m so tired of reading all these articles about obesity, and increase of disease, depression and all the common horrors. Have you seen the cancer and obesity rates in the U.S.? How about the rise of food allergies? Have you ever thought about it being our own fault? Yeap, what you eat is what you are. Food affects our system and if we continue to poison ourselves and if we do not make a change soon, those numbers of obesity and decease will never decrease.

The Elimination Diet

Friday, May 1st, 2009

The famous elimination diet or “Cave Man Diet” consists of simply removing all allergens. This is a strict diet that must be followed for a month minimum. All allergens must be removed in order for this diet to work. If you truly want to see results within a month, be strict and control what your child consumes. Do not (no matter how much she begs) allow her to have any of the foods that are NOT included in the diet (yes, you must eliminate candy and chicken nuggets).  If you do allow a processed food or allergen to be consumed, you have to restart this process. The purpose of the diet is to clear all symptoms and give a break to you child’s immune system. After all toxins are removed from the body it will be easier to train the immune system to accept them (see step three for curing allergies).
